System Overview - Palm
The
PocketLog system for Palm consists of four programs that work in
conjunction with other software on your PC.
-
Forms
Designer - this program allows you to create the
Forms you need for data collection. You can have
multiple files, each containing multiple Forms. The
files are saved in XML format to insure compatibility
and long life. This is the same Forms Designer as used
by the PocketPC system.
-
User
Manager - this program allows you to:
-
Add
a new user to the PocketLog system.
-
Specify
the file type and destination where a user's data
will be saved. You can save as an Access
database, Excel spreadsheet, or as a csv text file.
-
Specify
what Forms will be downloaded to a specific user.
-
Conduit
- this is a dll that is called by the Palm HotSync
program. The PocketLog dll handles the actual data
communication between the PC and the Palm. The
Conduit saves the data from the Palm in the format of
your choice - text file, Excel spreadsheet, or Access
database.
-
Palm
Program - the Palm program does the actual data
collection. You can also define your Forms on the
Palm for quick changes in the field.
