Interface to PC/Laptop

Connect to the PC, Laptop or TabletPC/UMPC device  using USB

for Mitutoyo and RS232

The DataGet hardware and data collection software together form an advanced SPC Data Collection system.  Typically used on the shop floor, DataGetUSB enables the core SPC functions of  data entry, real-time charts, statistical calculations, and alarming.

  • Hardware

    • Intelligent interface - manages signals to and from the gauge, and decodes gauge output for easier processing on the host computer.

    • For Mitutoyo and Mitutoyo compatible gauges such as Mahr Federal and VersaGage.  Connects to the gauge's Digimatic SPC interface.

    • For RS232 output gauges and devices. Our DataGet adapter supports the full RS232 protocol - more than some modern PC Serial Ports, and allows you to connect gauges and devices to PC/Laptops that do not have a Serial Port.

    • Interested in an Analog/LMI version?  Drop us a line.

    • Eliminates the need for RS232 ports. Works from USB, does not require batteries or power supplies  (using several adapters may require a powered USB hub.)

    • Send data from gauge to PC/Laptop - or request a reading from the PC/Laptop if your gauge does not have a data button.  Also works with USB and PS/2 footswitches.

    • Provides more flexibility than a gauge multiplexer, yet is simpler. Assign five gauges to one PC, or one gauge to each of five PCs.  Plug and unplug as needed.  Once the DataGet software and drivers have been installed on that PC, gauge/adapter recognition is almost automatic.

  • Gauge Reader software

    • Supports multiple gauges.  You can assign specific gauges to specific variables and never have to worry about collisions - DataGet will only accept readings from the assigned gauge.  Alternately, you can allow the variable to accept input from any gauge, and DataGet will poll each attached gauge for a reading in turn thus preventing data collisions.  Gauge assignments are persistent, and detected automatically when the program is started. 

    • Automates your Inspection Plan. With gauge assignment and VariCycle, you do not have to manually position the cursor - DataGet can handles that for you. Implements your data collection Form.

    • You can even set the software read a gauge automatically when you advance to that Variable and you have more than one adapter connected.

    • Export your data to an Excel spreadsheet, MS Access database, or formatted text file.  If you need a special format, our engineering department can handle your requirements - but these standard export options fit the vast majority of cases.  Most major SPC software will import our formatted text file (.csv) without problem.

  • Forms Designer software

    • Makes designing your data collection forms easy - just a few clicks of a button for most items

    • Saves in XML text format for maximum compatibility

  • Compatibility

    • Use in conjunction with your Palm DataGet systems.  Data and Setups are designed for compatibility.  (Or you can use them entirely separate.)

This is a complete data collection system, no custom programming or yearly costs required.
