System Overview - Palm
The DataGet system consists of four
programs that work in conjunction with other software on your PC.
-
DG
Config - this program allows you to create the Parts setups
(or Forms) you need for data collection. You can have multiple files, each
containing multiple Parts. The files are saved in XML text format to
insure compatibility and long life. DGConfig can be
considered a Forms Designer.
-
User
Manager - this program allows you to:
-
Add
a new user to the DataGet system.
-
Specify
the file type and destination where a user's data will be
saved. You can save as an Access database, Excel
spreadsheet, or as a text file.
-
Specify
what Forms will be downloaded to a specific user.
-
Conduit
- this is a dll that is called by the Palm HotSync program. The
DataGet dll handles the actual data communication between the PC
and the Palm. The Conduit saves the data from the Palm in
the format of your choice - text file, Excel spreadsheet, or
Access database. The conduit also handles the download of
configurations (or Forms) to the handheld.
-
Palm
Program - the Palm program does the actual data collection,
and is the gauge reader for the system.
You can also define your Parts on the Palm for quick changes in
the field.
